Rome, 21 Aug. (LaPresse) – “I’ve been reading and hearing certain things written and said by a bunch of second-rate journalists, just to get likes out of my daughter’s case. There are investigations underway, though certainly not against us as parents. I’m not going to waste my time here with such riff-raff, because the pain is mine and mine alone, but I hope you never, and I mean never, have to deal with incompetent doctors who underestimated my daughter when she was taken to A&E several times – and there are documents to prove it, not just idle chatter from people who, just to create a stir, are spouting nonsense and passing judgement.” This is the outpouring that the mother of little Anna, who died aged 4 in Palermo from diphtheria, shared on social media. “We parents did not mistake diphtheria for tonsillitis. The cause of my daughter’s death is still unknown, because nothing has yet been confirmed: it is a suspected case of diphtheria. In any case, I’m not going to waste my time with you here. I just want to make it clear – given that, on top of the grief I’m going through, I also have to read and hear certain things – that you should at least show a modicum of respect and dignity towards someone who, right now, just wants her daughter at home and not in a white coffin, OK? Be quiet. Be quiet, for only God, our Lord, can judge. I hope you never have to deal with the doctors who destroyed my daughter’s life and ours as parents,” she concludes.
