Vatican City (Vatican), Aug. 20 (LaPresse) – The human condition is “fallen” and the various existing crises require “not only responsibility, but also a conversion of the heart, which bears fruit in deeper faithfulness to God, in mutual love and in respect for the gift of creation.” Pope Leo XIV writes this in his Message for the 2026 World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. “The most radical causes of conflict and the exploitation of creation are consequences of an ethical and cultural crisis that includes the loss of a sense of limits, the desire for domination, the pursuit of immediate profit and the inability to recognize the dignity that God has bestowed upon every human person,” the Pope stresses, adding: “To build a peaceful society, we must not only reform structures, but also renew our hearts.”
