Genoa, 17 Aug. (LaPresse) – A 28-year-old man, originally from Turin, has been arrested by the Carabinieri of the Genoa Radiomobile unit on suspicion of mass murder. Yesterday afternoon, following an argument with his parents at the family home in Pino Torinese (TO), the man allegedly set fire to the flat and fled shortly afterwards. The flames not only destroyed his parents’ home but also spread to the flat below, where a couple were present; they were taken to hospital with mild smoke inhalation. The 28-year-old had managed to flee towards the Ligurian capital. It was here that, last night, officers from Genoa tracked him down, following a search alert issued by their colleagues in Turin. Informed by the operations centre of the young man’s presence in Piazzale Kennedy, they identified him and took him into custody. The man was transferred to Marassi Prison to await judicial proceedings.
