Today we can remember our loved ones now that we know the first-instance verdict of the trial.” So said Egle Possetti, spokesperson for the Committee in memory of the victims of the Morandi Bridge in Genoa, during today’s ceremony marking eight years since the collapse of the Morandi Bridge, in which 43 people lost their lives. “We firmly believe that this case cannot be closed without those responsible being held to account. An important judgement,” says Possetti, “a well-founded, serious judgement that identifies serious liabilities, omissions and inappropriate conduct; a judgement that is the result of years of work and great commitment by the justice system, with the support of the investigators whose efforts have helped to restore hope to our hearts.”
