Milan, July 28 (LaPresse) – A 39-year-old man of Egyptian origin has been detained by officers from the Milan Carabinieri Investigative Unit and the Corsico Company on suspicion of the aggravated murder of Alessio Borelli, who was found dead in his apartment on July 11. The suspect, who has a prior police record, is homeless and unlawfully present in Italy. He was located in the Lampugnano area, where he was identified and arrested by Carabinieri officers who had been actively searching for him since last night, immediately after the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office issued the detention order. According to investigators, the 39-year-old had been in a romantic relationship with the victim for about one month. However, in the days leading up to the incident, tensions reportedly arose between the two, culminating in a final meeting at Borelli’s home and the fatal assault. The attack is believed to have taken place on the morning of July 8, when neighbors reported hearing screams and calls for help coming from the apartment in the early hours. Additional evidence against the suspect includes biological and fingerprint evidence. The man’s DNA profile was identified on the two knives believed to have been used in the killing, which were recovered at the scene, as well as on blood traces found in the bathroom. Furthermore, a blood-stained palm print found on a glass door inside the apartment was conclusively matched to the suspect.
