Trento, 23 July (LaPresse) – Fifteen rescue operations in just a few hours, with five people injured. This is the tally for yesterday from the Trentino Mountain and Cave Rescue Service, which is once again urging caution before undertaking any kind of high-altitude excursion. Among the rescue operations were two incidents on the Marmolada and on the Friedrich August trail in Val di Fassa, where two hikers were injured whilst descending. A 50-year-old German cyclist was also taken to hospital after falling on the Joel Trail, the bike park in the Canazei area. In San Martino di Castrozza, an alarm was raised following an automatic life-saving SOS signal sent from a smartwatch worn by an 80-year-old hiker. The man, who fell ill at the Riviera della Manna, in the heart of the Pale di San Martino, took a fall and sustained some grazes. At Passo Sant’Antonio in Paganella, at an altitude of around 1,850 metres, a 75-year-old hiker who had slipped on a forest track, sustaining an open fracture to a lower limb, was airlifted to Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento.
