Milan, 23 July (LaPresse) – The Court of Milan has sentenced Artem Trachuk, the 25-year-old actor who plays the character ‘Pino o’ pazz’ in the well-known series ‘Mare Fuori’, to one year’s imprisonment for aggravated damage to four cars, committed in conjunction with others. The verdict follows events on the night of 20–21 May, when the young man, who was born in Ukraine, was arrested (and released the following morning) by officers from the Rho police station for a series of disturbances, noise, and kicking and punching parked cars in the town on the outskirts of Milan, causing damage to the wing mirrors and chassis. The public prosecutor had sought an eight-month prison sentence for Trachuk and three other young men aged 18, 22 and 24, under the summary procedure. Judge Amelia Managò sentenced them all to a longer term, whilst granting the benefit of a conditional suspension of the sentence on condition that the damage is compensated within the next six months. In Trachuk’s case – who was also ordered to pay legal costs – the aggravating circumstance of reoffending within five years was ruled out. In connection with the same incident, the artist-actor was also charged, whilst remaining at liberty, with making threats and insulting a public official for having hurled various insults at the officers and displayed an uncooperative attitude during his arrest: “I’m an actor; with the money I have, I can buy you and your bosses,” he is reported to have said that evening before apologising in the Direttissime courtroom the following morning.
