Genoa, 12 June (LaPresse) – The bodies of the two young men who went missing at sea off Ventimiglia on the evening of 10 June were recovered by divers this afternoon. The victims were a 19-year-old and a 25-year-old who were swept away by the waves after diving into the sea near Calandre. The two friends were swimming; one of them dived off the cliff and got into difficulty, and when the other jumped into the water to help him, he too was dragged under the water by the current. The search operation, launched immediately, had focused on patrolling the stretch of water off the coast with divers, firefighters and the harbour master’s office. With the help of a helicopter, the stretch of sea towards France was being patrolled in the hours since, where the bodies were found having been swept towards the cliffs and recovered. The recovery of the bodies is currently underway.
