Madrid (Spain), 6 June (LaPresse) – Pope Leo XIV stated that the issue of sexual abuse within the Church “is still an open wound” and gave his assurance that he would continue to combat it. “I would emphasise that, not only have I personally, wherever I have been, always worked to establish rules and ensure they are upheld, but I will continue to do so throughout the Church because it is still an open wound,” said the Pontiff in response to a question from El País on board the papal flight to Spain, as reported by the Spanish newspaper.
