Crans-Montana, surviving father: ‘We expected Moretti’s release, we trust the government’

Rome, 24 Jan. (LaPresse) – The release on bail of Jacques Moretti, owner of the Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, where a fire broke out on New Year’s Eve causing 40 deaths and over 100 injuries, ‘was something we had been expecting for some time, we were just waiting for the court to decide’. This was stated to LaPresse by Valentino Giola, a Milanese lawyer and father of Giuseppe, the 16-year-old boy who was discharged from Niguarda Hospital yesterday. “However, we are satisfied with the reaction of the Foreign Minister and the government’s statement. I am sure they will be present and will do everything possible to bring everything to light. I understand the outburst of the victims’ parents, who see this as an affront,‘ explains Giuseppe’s father, who confesses to having only one hope, that ’the release is part of a broader investigation by the investigators, because it happens that judges decide to release certain individuals and then intercept them, perhaps to find out if they want to blackmail someone who has done them favours. Even if I don’t have much faith in that.‘ Giuseppe was discharged from Niguarda Hospital yesterday and ’is a little calmer,‘ says his father, ’the tension has eased and physically the worst seems to be over. From a moral point of view, he is beginning to come to terms with the loss of his friends, even though he is facing the situation with a strength that amazes us’. When asked about the boy’s possible comment on the news of Moretti’s release, his father replies with a smile: “Yes, but with words that cannot be repeated”.
