La Spezia, Valditara: ‘Praise for teacher who stopped attacker’

Rome, 18 January (LaPresse) – ‘I personally applaud that courageous teacher who confronted the attacker with his bare hands and disarmed him. He deserves praise.’ This was stated in an interview with Il Giornale by the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, regarding the incident that took place on Friday at a school in La Spezia, which cost the life of student Abanoud Youssef. Valditara, referring to the fact that many knives are circulating among young people, added: ‘In schools where there are particular problems, metal detectors must be installed at the request of the headteacher and in agreement with the prefect. However, this is not enough. A cultural revolution is needed.’
