Rome, 30 Dec. (LaPresse) – The Court of Appeal of Caltanissetta has confirmed its refusal to repatriate Mohamed Shahin, the imam of the San Salvario district in Turin, to Egypt. Shahin had been arrested and detained in the Nisseno CPR (Centre for Permanent Residence). According to sources informed by LaPresse, the judges considered that there was a real risk to his life if he were repatriated to Egypt, a country he left over 20 years ago to settle in Italy. Shahin was arrested and taken to the CPR in Caltanissetta following an expulsion order signed by Home Secretary Matteo Piantedosi.
