Eight people were killed before the shooter turned the gun on himself
Indianapolis police say 8 people were killed in the Fedex facility where there was a violent shooting; many others were injured. The shooting took place at the facility near Indianapolis International Airport.
The shooter was identified as Brandon Scott Hole, 19, of Indianapolis. Hole began firing randomly at people in the parking lot of the FedEx facility late Thursday , killing four, before entering the building, fatally shooting four more people and then turning the gun on himself, Deputy Police Chief Craig McCartt said. FedEx has released a statement saying it is cooperating with the authorities and is working to obtain more information. “We are aware of the tragic shooting at our FedEx Ground facility near the Indianapolis airport. Safety is our top priority and our thoughts go out to all concerned,” the company said.
President Joe Biden said he had been briefed on the shooting and called gun violence “an epidemic” in the U.S. “Too many Americans are dying every single day from gun violence. It stains our character and pierces the very soul of our nation,” he said in a statement.
