Harris will go down in history as the first African American woman and the first Asian American person to hold the vice presidency of the United States
Ovation for Kamala Harris accompanied by her husband Douglas Emhoff Kamala Harris entered the grandstand where the vice president-elect will be sworn in in a few minutes. The former Californian senator wrapped in a purple coat signed by African American designers Christopher John Rogers and Sergio Hudson. Kamala Harris will swear in the hands of the first Hispanic judge of the Supreme Court, she will go down in history as the first African American woman and the first Asian American person to hold the post of vice president of the United States. Harris will be sworn in by Supreme Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic person to be a judge in court history, CNN reported. Sotomayor was appointed to the Supreme Court by former President Barack Obama in 2009. Like Harris, Sotomayor has broken down barriers throughout her career: third female judge on the US Supreme Court, first Hispanic person on the federal branch in New York.
