In the water 90 teams from 24 countries
The Yacht Club de Monaco will host the J/70 sailing world championship from October 14 to 22.
“It is a very important event for us,” explains Fanny Brouchoud, project manager sport events Yacht Club de Monaco, “it is one of the most competitive sailing classes in the world: there will be 90 teams, for about 400 sailors, from 24 countries. We have already filled up with entries and we are looking forward to welcoming them.”
Also among the participants is Pierre Casiraghi, vice president of the Yacht Club de Monaco, an experienced sailor and founder of Team Malizia: “I am very happy,” he stresses, “for the J70 championship. First of all, because I am participating, so it is always fun to take part in such prestigious races. I think it will be great: we will have over 90 boats and once again the Yacht Club is doing everything it can to be attractive and at the forefront of technology.”
Following the success of the European J/70 championship hosted in October 2015, the Yacht Club de Monaco is organizing the world championship of the class. With 20 boats displaying the Monaco pennant, the club boasts one of the largest J/70 fleets in the world.
