The Yacht Club de Monaco takes a first step into the metaverse. With the Virtual Energy Boat Challenge, guests can participate in the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, an event that aims to build an ever greener yacht as  part of the Monaco Capital of Advanced Yachting initiative.

It is possible to turn between the stands, follow the talks and the competitions, immersing yourself in the event at 360 degrees. The technology used is UNREAL 5, a powerful engine that offers an immersive experience.  The initiative supports the transition and future of yachting and is open to YCM members, partners, guests and teams.

“For us – explains the general secretary of the Yacht Club de Monaco, Bernard d’Alessandri – this is a first step into virtual reality. Our goal is to speak to the new generations and launch a new communication platform in line with the vision of the Principality of Monaco, which has always been very attentive to the digital issue. To do this we have adopted a design reminiscent of the gaming world to make the interaction more attractive and effective “.

“The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge is a key event because it represents everything that is Monaco: it is modern, it is a place that welcomes science, a place where Prince Albert II brought great innovation to the nautical world, a place that focuses on innovation and environmental protection. Monaco Energy Boat Challenge brings the brightest minds, a first approach to the metaverse and brings solutions to help protect the environment ”, underlines Frederic Genta, chief country officer for attractiveness and the digital transition, during the inauguration ceremony.

Monaco is a small reality but “By focusing on digital we can bring value and that is what we are trying to do here in the yachting world with the engineers and talents attending the event,” he adds.

At the base of the vision, the theme of environmental protection and attention to a sustainable approach. “Monaco from the point of view of communication and aggregation – Marco Casiraghi – can do a lot. We have a prince who has always paid close attention to these things and so do many organizations “Nine years ago with the first” we started – says Casiraghi – with the fundamental idea of trying to bring new generations and new technologies to Monaco in an attempt to push a propulsion in water that is more eco-friendly than traditional ones “.

According to Casiraghi, the time to act has come: “In Munich it is our intention to help the transition and push change because sometimes there are points in life, not only of technologies but also of countries and customs, that mathematicians could define as singularity point: the point where the function suddenly changes in trend. We can see this in the costumes and at the same time in the technological choices ”, she highlights.

Parallel to the choices made by the European Union in the automotive sector (see the FitFor55 climate package with the stop on the sale of vehicles with internal combustion engines from 2025), “we are trying to push this discourse by bringing together 150 engineers of the future for a comparison between them and the world of industry “. not only of technologies but also of countries and customs, which mathematicians could define as singularity point: the point where the function suddenly changes its trend.

And the Yacht Club of Monaco does its part in all respects with an environmentally conscious office. Designed by architect Norman Foster, from the outside it resembles a yacht and it is no coincidence that the various floors are called bridges like on a ship. “The new building was inaugurated in 2014 on the choice of our president, Prince Albert II – explains Olivier Campana, Deputy General Manager – and is a building that in French is said of ‘high environmental quality’. Many studies have been done to include the building in the Principality, the air conditioning and heating use the temperature of the sea water, we have thalassothermic systems, the building is glazed and the fact that it is facing south makes it easily heated in winter. At the same time, the glass has been specially designed to limit the impact of the sun’s rays on the building ”.
