(LaPresse) Good weather continues to favor the arrival of migrants from North Africa attempting to reach Europe via the Mediterranean Sea. More than 1,200 people have been rescued at sea in recent days: during the past week there have been numerous rescues operated by the NGOs Sea Watch and SOS Méditerranée, the Italian Coast Guard and several merchant vessels. Migrant arrivals in Italy have increased by nearly a quarter since 2021, with 34,013 arrivals recorded through Friday.
