(LaPresse) In Italy’s fire-ravaged north, Versilia is still grappling with wildfires, with the Massarosa hills in particular continuing to burn. Since night, more than 100 firefighters have been working between the hamlets of Fibialla, Gualdo, Valpromaro and Piazzano, where a drone, equipped with a thermal imaging camera, has been flying over the area.

Just in Piazzano, the teams stopped the advance of the fire front, avoiding the involvement of the built-up area, which had been evacuated earlier.

Firefighting operations also continue for the fires that have been raging for two days on the Karst, in the territories between Doberdò del Lago (GO) and the province of Trieste. Throughout the night 60 firefighters were engaged with 20 vehicles, since dawn two Canadairs have been in the air.
