(LaPresse) After it appeared to be brought under control yesterday, the fire that has been burning since Sunday in a border area between the Czech Republic and Germany, threatening to destroy a popular natural area tourist destination, called Bohemian Switzerland on the Czech side and Saxon Switzerland National Park on the German side, spread again today.
The blaze appeared to be under control, but then spread again. Hundreds of firefighters on both sides of the border are at work, with help from reinforcements from neighboring Poland and Slovakia. Eight firefighting helicopters are working to tame the flames in the hilly, rocky region that is difficult to access. About 250 hectares of forest are still burning today.
