Runway metls in heatwave disrupting air traffic in Britain at height of holiday season. Travelers stranded, luggage lost, planes stuck to runway and flights canceled in yet another effect of global warming.

(LaPresse) London’s Luton Airport is the victim of global warming, having experienced a disruption of flights due to what has been described as a “surface defect” on the runway as a result of the extreme heat that is affecting the United Kingdom.

In short the asphalt runway has melted in the heat.

The airport said technicians have been called to the scene and repair work is underway. The scorching heat is disrupting travel, health care and schools. The red alert for Britain is not yet over; in fact, temperatures could reach 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit).
