Macron said France is "grateful for the deep affection" for the country.

(LaPresse) “We all feel a sense of emptiness.” French President Emmanuel Macron said this in a video message through which he paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth, who died yesterday at age 96.

“Millions of people around the world saw the images of her coronation and were immediately fascinated by this young leader who already showed so much strength and courage. The courage of war-scarred life and soon the courage to uphold, from one century to the next, the values of freedom and tenacity. Her rare and powerful words, her unwavering dignity made her a constant symbol of the United Kingdom,” Macron said, adding that France is “grateful for the deep affection” for the country.

“Elizabeth II mastered our language, loved our culture and touched our hearts/For you she was your queen. For us, she was The Queen. For everyone, she will stay with us forever.”
