This was reported by the European climate agency Copernicus, stressing that in June and July the average temperature in Western Europe reached a record 21.62°. Globally, so far this is the third hottest year ever, after 2024 and 2025, but according to experts there is a growing likelihood, also thanks to the ‘El Nino’ phenomenon, that 2026 could become the hottest year ever, surpassing 2024 or coming very close to it.
