The service took place in the garden of his family home in Pavana, a hamlet in the province of Pistoia. A few dozen fans gathered outside the gates of his home and applauded as the singer-songwriter’s coffin passed by. “He gave us so much, our lives probably could have been different without his contribution – a fan said -. Fantastic, unique and inimitable. He welcomed us, and it was also wonderful to see him holding our children.” A public memorial service is scheduled to take place in Bologna in September to allow all Guccini fans to pay their final tribute to him.
