Rome, 14 July (LaPresse) – Weezer have announced their new project, ‘Weezer’, due for release on 21 August 2026 on the Reprise/Warner Records label. Having released the albums Blue, Green, Red, White, Teal and Black, Weezer return with a new colour in their arsenal for ‘Weezer’ – their twentieth album in the course of their monumental career spanning several decades. Following an incredible 30th-anniversary tour, which was sold out everywhere and during which Weezer played their iconic debut album in its entirety, the band reunited in Orange County – a meeting point halfway between their respective homes in California – and essentially returned to their roots: in a rehearsal room, playing together, writing together, trying to work out what they wanted to do next and what form their next project would take. “Weezer” was born out of those sessions: simply four lads in a room, creating together. The result is “Weezer” – an album as taut as a spring, ready to spring into action, featuring tracks written by three of the band’s four members; it is the first time that Weezer’s frontman and guitarist, Rivers Cuomo, and drummer Pat Wilson have co-written the foundation of a track since their debut album.
