Rome, Nov. 3 (LaPresse) – “No decision has been made yet. When it is made, we will announce it.” This is what Confindustria Vice-President and Federacciai President Antonio Gozzi said regarding the decision of the Italian consortium on the former Ilva steelworks. Speaking at an Ansaldo Energia conference in Rome today, Gozzi referred to, and denied, some press reports suggesting that the Italian consortium would withdraw its bid for the former Ilva. “We are discussing it,” Gozzi said, responding to another question about the Italian consortium for the former Ilva on the sidelines of the Ansaldo Energia event. “There is time until Sunday, November 8.” As for the government’s involvement of state-owned companies in the Taranto area – Leonardo, FS, Fincantieri and also Rheinmetall Italia – as emerged from the latest meeting at Palazzo Chigi, Gozzi believes it is “right” to call on “major state-owned companies to contribute” when discussing “reconversion issues”.
