Milan, Sept. 7 (LaPresse) – In the second quarter of 2026, seasonally adjusted GDP increased by 0.6% in the euro area and by 0.7% in the EU, compared with the previous quarter. This is according to an estimate published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In the first quarter of 2026, GDP had remained stable in the euro area and had increased by 0.1% in the EU. In the second quarter of 2026, Ireland (+10.2%) recorded the largest increase compared with the previous quarter, followed by Slovenia (+1.8%) and Lithuania (+1.7%). Austria (-0.1%) was the only Member State to record a decrease compared with the previous quarter. Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, seasonally adjusted GDP increased by 1.2% in the euro area and by 1.4% in the EU in the second quarter of 2026, after an increase of 0.6% in the euro area and 0.9% in the EU in the previous quarter.
