Rome, Aug. 30 (LaPresse) – “We now need to work on an immediate plan with more targeted emergency measures, also to preserve resources for other absolutely necessary measures to support the business system and, looking ahead, to guarantee the country’s energy and production autonomy.” Business and Made in Italy Minister Adolfo Urso said this in an interview with La Stampa, speaking about the government’s next steps on rising fuel prices. The minister lists measures concerning the road haulage sector among the main initiatives under consideration and points out that excess profits should be agreed upon with the companies. Urso is considering an increase in renewables, a return to nuclear power, and more structural measures as early as October in the Business Decree and then in the Budget Law. Urso also spoke about the resurgence of inflation, with data on the trend expected in the coming days: “It is a risk we are addressing. On this front, we moved from the outset with the cut in excise duties and the tax credit for road haulage precisely to reduce the inflationary impact, which will obviously occur, albeit to a limited extent. Now we are waiting for the new data, and then, if necessary, the government will of course intervene with appropriate measures.” Among the points highlighted by Urso is the need to increase electricity production from renewables and push for the country’s return to nuclear power. He also spoke of more structural measures coming in October with the Business Decree and then also in the Budget Law.
