Rome, Feb. 11 (LaPresse) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini agrees with the recommendations of the Guarantee Commission regarding air travel strikes during Milano Cortina 2026, including the Paralympic Games. Salvini is ready to formally request a postponement from the unions, with willingness for a subsequent meeting at the Ministry, according to a MIT statement. In the resolution adopted yesterday, the Commission highlighted to the Minister the concrete risk of disruption to freedom of movement due to the air transport strikes scheduled for February 16 and March 7, noting that these dates were considered critical by the Authority because of their overlap with the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. To ensure a fair balance between the exercise of the right to strike and the regular conduct of the Olympic event, the Commission proposed rescheduling the strikes to the period between February 24 and March 4, which is not affected by the competition calendar, the note concludes.
