Ikea, trade unions call for national strike on 5 December

Rome, 2 December (LaPresse) – Following the failure of the latest attempt to reopen negotiations for the renewal of the supplementary company contract, Filcams Cgil, Fisascat Cisl and Uiltucs have called a national strike of all Ikea workers for 5 December, with a picket line in front of the Carugate headquarters near Milan. ‘Ikea continues to act unilaterally, worsening working conditions and ignoring the historical commitments made to employees,’ reads the statement released by Filcams Cgil. To make matters worse, the results of the 2025 Participation Award have been announced. “More than half of the stores will not receive any bonus, and the others will receive negligible amounts. Faced with a total shutdown and the worsening economic conditions of workers, the trade unions confirm the state of unrest and call for national mobilisation on 5 December to demand rights, dignity and genuine negotiations”.
