Milan, 13 November (LaPresse) – Italians lead the way in Black Friday spending, beating France and Spain. 86% of Italians – compared to 80% of Europeans – are looking forward to Black Friday 2025 to buy new products with a budget of around £220, more than the French and Spanish, who will not exceed £180. According to data compiled by Scalapay, an Italian Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) fintech with just over 10 million users in Southern Europe, 11% of Italian consumers will spend more than on Black Friday 2024, 52% will spend about the same amount, 26% will spend less, and only 10% have not yet decided. In France, the outlook is less positive, with 9% increasing their budget and 14% planning to decrease it. Spain, on the other hand, is the opposite: 14% of the sample will spend more, although they will not reach the figures spent in Italy. ‘One lever of Black Friday’s success,’ says Simone Mancini, CEO of Scalapay, “is based on trust: 73% of Italian users said they trust the discounted prices offered by companies, and when this trust is also supported by a flexible and transparent payment offer, consumers have all the tools they need to manage their purchases in the best possible way. Today, in fact, almost half (42%) of future Black Friday 2025 customers plan to pay for their purchases in instalments, many of them through “Buy Now Pay Later”, especially for smaller amounts. The significant decline in the savings capacity of the under-40s, added Mancini, is changing spending habits: in a context where flexibility counts more than speed or service, solutions such as Scalapay restore freedom and control, especially to the younger generations, offering fair access to consumption even without traditional credit.
