Flotilla, Salvini’s briefing in the Council of Ministers on strikes: towards tougher sanctions

Rome, 2 October (LaPresse) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Matteo Salvini intends to present a report on strikes in the transport sector to the Council of Ministers scheduled for this evening. In particular, also in light of the intervention of the Guarantee Commission, the proposal is to revise the current legislation on strikes and, in particular, the penalties for those who down tools without complying with the rules (currently ranging from €2,500 to €50,000). This is according to a statement. “At this delicate stage, Salvini does not consider showdowns to be useful and instead calls on trade unions, workers and organisations to choose responsibility and compliance with the rules,” it concludes.
