Truckers strike enters eighth day, could cause permanent damage to economy

(LaPresse) For an eighth day, truckers in South Korea continue their protest to obtain adequate minimum wages. In some aerial images, hundreds of new cars are seen stuck in warehouses and parking lots before delivery. According to the prime minister, the damage caused by the demonstrations and the transport blockage could be “irrecoverable” for the country’s economy.

About seven thousand truckers demonstrated in 14 different cities in South Korea, causing delays in deliveries of steel, concrete and related products to the auto market. Even though at the moment it appears that only the internal market has been affected, the risk of causing global delivery problems is very high.
