Pope Francis in Kazakhstan: I come "to amplify the cry of so many who implore peace, an essential path of development for our globalized world."

(LaPresse) “Kazakhstan is configured as a crossroads of relevant geopolitical junctions: it, therefore, plays a fundamental role in mitigating conflicts.” So said Pope Francis in his speech at the Khazak Concert Hall, addressing the President of the Republic Kasym-Jomart Tokaev, religious and civil authorities and the diplomatic corps.

“Here,” he continued, “John Paul II came to sow hope immediately after the tragic attacks of 2001. I come here in the course of the mad and tragic war that originated from the invasion of Ukraine, while other clashes and threats of conflict threaten our times. I come “to amplify the cry of so many who implore peace, an essential path of development for our globalized world.”
