Pope tells Russia: ‘Do not use wheat as a weapon of war.’

“Blocking grain exports from Ukraine, on which the lives of millions of people depend, is of great concern, especially for poorer countries,” Pope Francis said at the close of a general audience in St. Peter’s Square in Rome. “I make a heartfelt appeal that every effort be made to resolve this issue and to guarantee the universal human right to food. Please, do not use wheat – a staple food – as a weapon of war.” he added.
