Thousands of people took to the streets as soon as the Covid lockdown ended
Traffic and pedestrians reappeared on the streets of Shanghai just before midnight on Tuesday, when China’s largest city began to return to normal after a rigid two-month lockdown due to a surge in Covid-19 cases. Crowds filled the Bund, one of the most iconic areas of the city. Many flocked to the streets to walk, skateboard and dance. Across Shanghai, only a few areas and about 500,000 people remain in lockdown.
