New Delhi imposed a weeklong lockdown Monday night to prevent the collapse of the Indian capital's health system.
The municipal authorities of New Delhi have launched a week-long lockdown since Monday for the capital of India for the extension of the epidemic of Covid-19 that has brought the city’s hospitals to their knees.
Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the health system is unable to receive large numbers of patients, “explaining that the restrictions are necessary to prevent” people from dying on the street. “In Delhi there are 25,462 cases and 161 deaths in one day with 273,810 infections and 1,619 deaths throughout India in the last 24 hours.
