British Prime Minister has announced the third lockdown in England, due to the increase in infections.

“It is clear that we must do more together to bring the new variant under control,” Johnson said, speaking of a national lockdown “hard enough to curb the variant.” “You can leave home only for essential reasons,” added the prime minister, addressing his compatriots.

Johnson also announced the closure of primary, secondary and college schools and the move to online education. “I want to emphasize that the problem is not that schools are not safe”, but that they “can act as transmission vectors by causing the virus to spread among families,” said the premier.

In the last 24 hours, the country has registered a new peak in cases, also due to the variant of Covid-19, which is now spreading. The new positives were 58,784 positives, out of nearly 430,000 swabs.
